Man accused in robbery had fake DEA badges, tactical vest in Greenwich: PD – NBC Connecticut

A man accused of stealing sunglasses valued at over $500 had fake DEA badges and a tactical vest in his possession, according to Greenwich police.

The police department arrested a man from Yonkers, New York, after a store theft in central Greenwich.

An employee told police that a man and woman entered the store, took a pair of sunglasses and left without paying.

Officers saw surveillance video of the theft, located the man and took him into custody.

Police said he denied being involved. Officers conducted a search of his car and found a tactical vest, fake DEA badges, a knife, rounds of ammunition and more.

The man is facing charges including first-degree forgery, possession of a shoplifting device, criminal possession of ammunition and more.

He is being held on a $250,000 bond. Police are conducting an investigation.
